MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) in the vicinity of Mindanao can develop into a tropical cyclone on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday. 

The LPA was once Tropical Depression Querubin.

Pagasa previously said that “through Sunday (22 December), this LPA will traverse Mindanao, Sulu Sea, and Palawan.”

“May tyansa pa ring maging bagyo ito pero posible sa araw na ng Linggo habang ito ay kumikilos sa bahagi ng patungo sa West Philippine Sea,” Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said.

(The LPA may develop into a tropical cyclone on Sunday while it moves near the West Philippine Sea.)

In its early morning bulletin, Pagasa said the LPA spotted over the coastal waters of Mahinog, Camiguin at 2:00 a.m.

Badrina said the LPA will trigger rain showers in many parts of  the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
